Developing everyday life skills to be more independent.

Becoming significantly disabled results in bodily limitations. Often tasks taken for granted can no longer be accomplished as they once were. To maintain independence, people must learn new skills to accomplish formerly routine tasks. New skills necessary may range from new ways to button a shirt, learning to use adaptive equipment, new ways to communicate, new methods of mobility, and even learning skills to hire, fire, and manage a Personal Attendant who may be necessary to assist in daily tasks. As is true with other services requested by a consumer, services are typically provided by a person with a similar disability.
