100 percent of your United Way Contributions to JCIL are used to provide direct services for individuals with disabilities and not used for salaries, travel or any type of administrative expense. Your contributions STAY IN YOUR COUNTY to provide assistive devices and home modifications. At JCIL, United Way means INDEPENDENCE for PEOPLE with disABILITIES.

2006 - 2007 DYER COUNTY UPDATE:

To date, eleven projects have been completed and seven individuals have been served. These services include accessible home modifications, transportation, health care, assistive technology and equipment.

Examples are wheelchair ramps, a computer for a DSCC student, a scooter for a DHS student, and homeownership opportunities for three individuals through the JCIL Homeowner Program. Two closings are completed and one pending with grants exceeding $45,000.

Three of of projects were completed using Dyer County volunteers. These service records are documented and available for review.

2005-2006 REPORT: Eleven individuals served with home modifications and equipment, one of whom became a homeowner through the JCIL Homeowner Program. We are proud that we were able to invest an amount larger than your allocation (over $9,000) back into Dyer County for home modifications plus an additional $23,000 in homeowner grants for each qualifying applicant.
In 2004-2005 Dyer County United Way invested $4,000 in JCIL and we invested $6,854 back into Dyer County serving 8 families
with home modifications, transportation, employment, medical needs
and peer support.

These home modifications made it possible for people with disabilities in Dyer County to visit their friends and family, to go shopping, to go to church and to work. Independent living is doing what you want to do and United Way contributions make independence possible for a lot of people.
