Our Gibson County SMILES!

2006-2007 REPORT:
Allotment = 0
To date we have served 7 people in Gibson County - three individuals by acquiring wheelchairs, two people with our homeownership program (grants to exceeding $20,000.) We have also served two people with peer support services and assisted one in relocating to his own apartment.

We are constantly seeking funds to address the needs of the 44 people with disabilities on our waiting list in Gibson County. We have referred these people needing home modifications to other agencies but unfortunately these agencies are also under funded.
OUR GIBSON COUNTY HISTORY: With a total Gibson County UW Contribution of $152 in 2005-2006 we served nine individuals with eleven services including home modifications, equipment and transportation services at a cost of over $3,700. We are pleased to have assisted these individuals in Gibson County in becoming more independent especially the individual we helped in relocating from a nursing home.

In 2004-2005 Gibson County invested $1,000 in JCIL. The return on that investment is over $5,000. Actually, the profits on that investment are even larger because it purchased services and smiles for seven families and everyone knows a smile is worth a million dollars.
In 2003-2004 Gibson County United Way was unable to invest in JCIL but we were able to invest $4,472.96 in Gibson County by helping an individuals buy a van ($2,000) and a computer workstation ($1,074.16) and a wheelchair ramp in Trenton ($379.30) and a wheelchair ramp in Milan ($884.50) and school books ($135) and a head scarf for the woman in the Milan Hospital. (Scarf paid for by the JCIL Staff)
