Thanks to the volunteer wheelchair ramp builders at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, to date eight projects have been completed including home modifications, materials and equipment at a cost of over $3,000. We are also assisting a person with disabilities in becoming a homeowner in Henderson County. One person told us they would have had to move to a nursing home if not for the United Way funds buying the materials and the volunteers from the church building the ramp

2005-2006 REPORT: Four individuals have been served including home modifications and equipment at a cost of over $1,000. We now have 16 individuals from Henderson County on our waiting list for services. We are currently trying to raise funds for an emergency situation in Henderson County. The consumer has difficulty leaving their home for needed medical attention.In 2004/2005, Henderson County United Way invested $1,000 in JCIL and we invested $4,941.09 in Henderson County serving 11 families with services including home modifications, home ownership, medical and mobility equipment and peer support.
