Skills Training

Skills training is a huge part of the journey towards independence. This training helps individuals learn skills needed to perform routine tasks. These skills range from learning to use adaptive equipment, learning new ways to communicate, learning  to manage personal assistants, learning cooking and nutrition skills, budget and  financial management, or even something as simple as finding a new way to button a shirt.  Skills’ training varies with what an individual must learn to accomplish their goals. JCIL consumers can take part in training on subjects ranging from American Sign Language to wheelchair maintenance to activities of daily living. Subjects requiring specialized instructions, such as legal issues or emergency preparedness, are prepared and presented by professionals with the appropriate credentials.
